A's:

Placing an order:

1. Is the purchase secure? How do I know that my credit card details are safe?

A: Purchasing through CliMATEhabitats' website is very secure. We use Sagepay which is part of Protx to process our credit card transactions. They offer 100% secure 128 bit encrypted security on your transactions and no cardholder information is transmitted without being encrypted. We do not hold any card holder information at CliMATEhabitats.

2. Can I phone my order through instead of using the website?

A: You can phone your order through and we can process it for you however, it is best that you check our Skype status on the customer services page to see if we are available to take your order. We are a working factory and as such we are busy manufacturing vivariums to satisfy your orders. If we are not available, please leave a message and we will call you back at our earliest opportunity.

3. Do I have to create an account to purchase through the website?

A: No is the simple answer. Once you have added your purchases to the shopping cart, proceed to the checkout, where you are then asked whether you wish to proceed without creating an account. Creating an account does have its benefits though; not only does it make further purchases easier but it will also allow you to sign up to our newsletter so that we can inform you of any new products or developments.

Delivery:

4. How long will my order take to arrive?

A: For small items such as our range of accessories, delivery is usually within 3-5 working days. For larger items such as our range of vivariums, we try to deliver within 3 weeks. This is because we like to deliver them ourselves on our own transport which circles the UK in this time. The reason for doing this is so that we can ensure that your order arrives in tip top condition. We will contact you once we have received your order so that we can inform you when we hope to make the delivery. We will try to accomodate your requirements as best as we can.

5. I live near your factory, can I collect my order rather than paying for the delivery option?

A: Yes please! If you wish to save on the delivery charges then we would be delighted for you to collect yourself. All we ask though is that you contact us first to ensure that your item is in stock and ready for collection and to ensure that someone is available to assist you with your collection.

6. If the order arrives damaged, what should I do?

A: Unfortunately due to the nature of sending large bulky items long distances, sometimes damages do occur. If the order has been sent via our own driver, then he will take the item back and we will replace it at our earliest opportunity for you. If the goods have been sent via a courier or the Royal Mail, then we will arrange to have the items collected and replaced.

7. Can I screw heating or lighting fixtures into the vivariums?

A: Yes. We encapsulate wood into the inside of the vivariums so that you can safely screw accessories into the inside of the unit. The section that has the timber encapsulated should be fairly obvious and visable as we have positioned it at one end in the middle of each unit to centralise lighting or create a thermal gradient when using a heater or ceramic bulb. We have also incorporated cable channels into the tops of the vivariums so that cables can run straight up and out of the unit and run along the back to make for a more neater and safer installation.

8. What methods of heating or lighting can I use?

A: Our units support most heaters from the AHS type units, ceramic bulbs, heat mats and lighting such as the Mercury Vapour, UV strips and other basking type lamps. If you need assistance, then please contact us.

9. What is the inset section for at the top of the vivariums?

A: We have incorporated an inset section at the top of most of our vivariums to allow a ceramic or basking bulb to be used from the outside. Some snakes and climbing species of lizards can be prone to climbing on heating or lighting units if they are installed inside of the vivarium, which can be a danger to their health with the risk of burning. By mounting these units on the outside, it limits the risk.

10. How easy are the vivariums to clean?

A: Our vivariums now have perfectly smooth surfaces both on the inside and outside. This makes them really easy to keep clean. They can be brushed or washed out quite simply. With no cracks or joins either, it makes them very hygeinic too, which can only be a benefit to your animals.

11. What cleaning products should I use to keep my vivarium looking like new?

A: Firstly when cleaning out the inside of the vivarium we would recommend that you remove the inhabitant(s) so that they do not come into direct contact with any cleaning products. For the inside of the unit, any antibacterial type of product that is suitable for use with animals would be perfect. The substrate should be removed first and then this can be wiped around with a paper towel to ensure that the unit is free from dirt and bacteria. The outside of the vivarium can be cleaned with ordinary furniture polish and a soft cloth. Be sure though that you do not spray into the vivarium, through the vents or anywhere where the spray could come into contact with the reptiles inside.

12. My lizard / snake / other requires very high temperatures, would the unit cope with this?

A: Yes, our fibreglass vivariums can cope with temperatures as high as 250 degrees fahrenheight which should be enough for any inhabitant!

13. Can I add a waterfall or misting system to my vivarium? Is it waterproof?

A: Because our vivariums have no joints, they are completely waterproof. Therefore, they are perfectly suited to the high humidity required by various reptiles and the various methods employed to create this humidity. As a word of caution though, it would be best to ensure that whatever method you use cannot flood the vivarium as this can cause a danger to any inhabitants - goes without saying really.

14. My animal requires a size of unit that you do not list. Do you produce custom sizes of vivariums?

A: Although we do not normally offer to produce custom units due to the costs involved, if you require a large number of units or if the demand for such a size is high, then we will consider it. Please feel free to discuss your requirements with us.

15. What about colours then? Can I have my vivarium in a different colour?

A: Yes, we can offer custom colours. Black seems to be popular at the moment! As long as we can source a gelcoat finish in the required colour, we can do it. Please note that there may be a small additional cost involved in this; we will inform you what the extra cost is before you make your purchase.

Price:

16. Why are fibreglass vivariums more expensive than say wooden units?

A: Fibreglass vivariums cost more to produce because not only are the materials more expensive to source, but the units can take up to 3 days to produce with each layer of fibreglass taking 24 hours to apply and cure. Also for each size of unit, a 'plug' has to be produced before a mould can then be made so that we can make the production models. This process can take up to 3 weeks! We believe the benefits far outway the extra cost though, as these units will last years longer, are more hygeinic and healthier therefore for your reptiles than wooden viviaria, they are easier to clean and they are lighter and stronger than plastic units and they will hold their value if you come to sell them on in the future.

17. If I want to buy a lot of these vivariums, will you offer me a discounted price?

A: We have tried to keep the price of our units down as low as possible. Therefore, we would only be able to offer a small discount on the already very competitive prices. Please do not let that put you off though, the best thing to do is get in touch with us and we can chat about what we can do to keep the price as low as possible.

18. I am a reptile shop owner / online retailer / breeder; do you offer a trade discount?

A: We do offer a small trade discount. Please get in touch to let us know who you are so that we can give you details of our trade pricing.
